This summer brands are letting their colors POP! Trends are leaving behind the creamy neutral tones and have begun mixing in bright and colorful patterns and accessories. Backgrounds have begun to switch from textured layers of creams and whites and have become simple and fun! So let's talk about this seasons must have props for your flat lays!
Fruit
Think, single color pops of fresh color. Brands are adding fruit to their patterns, and also as the accessories in photos to keep their products looking fresh. This is a great trend because there is no shortage of fun fruit that can be used. I have seen strawberries, bananas, lemons, oranges, avocados, melons, and limes. Throwing in a few pieces of fruit keeps your images seasonal and applicable to your buyer, and can be extra fun if your product uses a fabric with a fruit pattern.
Popsicles
These colorful summer treats are making their way into the product photos of a variety of brands this summer. They are creative, fresh, and make a product feel so summery. These can be added in the same color as a product, as a complementary color to stay with your aesthetic or in a contrasting color to add variety and entertain the eye. Not only am I seeing these are the fresh frozen variety, but you may also see a few faux popsicles. I like that they come in all shapes and sizes and are so fun, especially for kids products.
Summer Florals
Seasonal florals are always a great background prop for product photographs. These add texture and beauty to the images and add a level of class or sweetness. This summer expect to see a lot of daisies, sun flowers, cosmos, and other simple yet colorful flowers. Florals are great in product photos, flat lays, and also lifestyle images. By using them throughout the shoot it can create a great story the goes with your images and makes the whole thing flow together.
Shadows and light
Flat along with the rise of natural light product photography has been a rise in shadows in images. This season I have seen creative shadows across the image as well as the shadow of the product itself showing a bit more than usual. This trend really makes use of the sun itself as the summer accessory must have! There is so much potential with a shadow and it can create a lot of depth in the images. I love the striped like light is coming into a window, but I have also seen the shade of leaves to give a natural feel.
Sunglasses
These cute pops of color are a super fun accessory to highlight the summer feel of a product. They come in a variety of shapes and colors and I love that they are designed for kids so they are the perfect small size for a flat lay. These sunglasses can come very girly, but will also come in gender neutral varieties and I have a few laying around for pictures this summer! Sunglasses have a fun feel and make me feel like I am headed somewhere fun.
Product photography is so adaptable to the season and I love having a clear season in flat lays. These would make great images to post on social media, to update your website images, or to create your email campaigns. This season is going to be full of color and fun and I am so ready for it!
